Andy Harper is one of Australia’s most respected voices in football
A former Australian national league football player, author and media commentator for Paramount ANZ’s football coverage.
Andy played in Australia’s National Soccer League for clubs such as St George, Marconi, Brisbane Strikers and Newcastle United. Playing a total of 321 games for seven clubs, winning the Grand Final in 1993 and Premier’s Plate in 1995.
Since retiring in 2001, Andy Harper took on a more corporate role as the inaugural Chief Executive of A-League club Sydney FC before committing to the broadcasting of Australia’s football, in 2006. He has written four books, including biographical works of two of Australia’s leading football personalities, the late Johnny Warren and former Socceroos and now Glasgow Celtic coach, Ange Postecoglou.
A regular contributor as an expert football commentator in the print and electronic media’s coverage of football in Australia since 1997, Andy has covered the A-League and W-league, Socceroos and Matildas, FIFA World Cups, AFC Asian Cups, AFC Asian Champions Leagues, European Championships and FFA Cups.
Also with a love of coaching, Andy holds all his coaching licenses. Off field, Harper recently completed his PHD at Sydney University.
